Kinds of Pat Testing Equipment (Part 1)

Fires at workplace commonly happen due to the neglect of simple task such as equipment maintenance on electrical machines, appliances, and many others. Regular testing of such equipment is a requirement to avoid life-wrecking incidents such as fires.

To prevent such bad things to happen in any establishment, pat testing should be performed. There are lots of pat testing tools to choose from; of course, it is best to choose the one that suits for your company or establishment.

Two kinds of pat testing include simple pass or fail pat testing and manual pass or fail pat testing equipment.

(a) Simple Pass-Fail Pat Testing Equipment

This equipment is used for most basic testing system. When this is used, it is only displayed on the indicator if the appliance being test has passed or failed according to the standard safety. This kind of equipment is best for small units or unsophisticated appliances. The disadvantage part is that this does not work on complex equipment. It does not provide detailed information on the test result, too. Its capacity is limited only on insulation resistance and earth continuity aspects of test.

There are some instances that this equipment encounters false negative result. This leads to giving a failed result even if the equipment is in excellent working condition.
