Anritsu’s Handheld VNA Master MS2028B

Meet one of Anritsu’s latest test gears, the VNA Master MS2028B. Anritsu claims that it is broadest frequency, highest performance test solution for 2-port measurements in this industry. This gadget is evidently the first handheld VNA to be using a 12-term error correction algorithm.

The VNA Master MS2028B is made especially for complex cable and antenna measurement needs in the field with accurate, vector corrected 2-port magnitude, phase, and Distance-To-Fault measurements. This test equipment features two-active-port, fully-reversing VNA covering a frequency band from 5 kHz to 20 GHz, and a capacity to measure all four S-parameters with only a single connection and has a typical measurement speed of 750 µsec per point. Aside from that, it also includes a user -configured 4-quadrant display for up to four S-parameters, supports waveguide measurements, and SOLT, SSLT and SST calibrations. With its 3-receiver architecture, the MS2028B can measure all 4 S-parameters at once with a single connection to the DUT. Moreover, you won’t have to groan over repetitive tasks; with the VNA Master MS2028B you can just automate them by using Ethernet connector to a laptop.

This handheld analyzer has all these features and more, making it perfect for RF engineers and technicians working on installation and maintenance support for communication systems, and anyone who needed an excellent VNA test equipment.

As for the data it has a 2G memory storage capacity, thus it can store more than 4000 traces and setups, has a Secure Data Operation option for classified data and can also transfer data via USB or Ethernet, and has a memory card slot.

Technicians and engineers must have had it more difficult having to use the large bench-top test and measurement tools for troubleshooting and maintenance tasks. But VNA Master MS2028B is handheld, and as such it is more convenient to use. One more proof that smaller gears can be more reliable these days.

Hioki 3535 LCR HiTester

Hioki comes with a test and measurement equipments that is not just very useful and sophisticated but is also ideally light weight —the Hioki 3535 LCR HiTester, which has completely awesome features, including a 6 minute high-speed measurement capability and flexibility as a test equipment.

Hioki 3535 LCR HiTester is a way more sophisticated LCR meter- a piece of electronic test equipment used to measure, among other things, the impedance of a component. It can measure a frequency range of 100kHz to 120MHz. Its hi-speed capability makes it even more useful because of a built in comparator load functions and BIN (classification) measurements. With that, it has many uses, including chip inductor and high speed magnetic head testing, and many more. By detaching the head amp unit from the main unit and placing it near the test object, you can lessen the effect of test leads on its measurements. This device is infused with an automatically balanced bridge circuit with digital control, which takes account for its light weight and its size. The touch panel really makes it a lot easier to use. It has a zoom display capability of up to 4 parameters, which is a plus.

This test gear is not as expensive as one would expect for it, although it is still really very high if you think about it. Its price can range from 10, 000 dollars and up, although you might find the cost lower if you go to rental companies. The model is new so you might not be able to find it in secondhand dealers. But it really is a great test device and Hioki really did an impressive job on it—it is worth the price.
